Capilla Cayrasco & Camerata Cayrasco, established in 2010 by Eligio Luis Quinteiro and Sarah Moffatt, are two sides of the same coin: period-instrument ensembles dedicated to the performance of a wide variety of music from the dawn of the Renaissance to Modernism in the 20th century; Capilla for music in sacred contexts and Camerata for music in secular contexts.
Capilla Cayrasco & Camerata Cayrasco take their names from the celebrated renaissance Canarian poet and musician Bartolomé Cairasco de Figueroa. The number of performers involved varies depending on the programme, from trio formations through to chamber orchestra and choir.
In 2010, anniversary year of Cairasco de Figueroa, they ran a series of concerts in Spain dedicated to his memory.
Capilla Cayrasco & Camerata Cayrasco have performed in various international festivals in Spain, France, Ireland & the United Kingdom, and have been broadcast on national radio in Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Portugal, Romania and the United Kingdom.
